Déclaration attribuable au porte-parole du Secrétaire général sur la Côte d’Ivoire
Le Secrétaire général prend note de l’annonce par la Commission électorale indépendante des résultats provisoires de l’élection présidentielle qui a eu lieu en Côte d’Ivoire le 31 octobre.
Le Secrétaire général condamne fermement les violences qui ont eu lieu avant, pendant et après l’élection. Il est attristé par les nombreuses pertes en vies humaines et exprime ses profondes condoléances aux familles endeuillées.
Le Secrétaire général appelle tous les acteurs politiques à respecter l’ordre constitutionnel du pays et à se conformer aux principes de l’état de droit. Il exhorte le Président et les principaux dirigeants de l’opposition à s’engager dans un dialogue constructif et inclusif afin de trouver une issue à la crise actuelle et à oeuvrer ensemble à dégager un consensus en faveur de la cohésion nationale.
Le Secrétaire général réitère la disponibilité des Nations Unies à appuyer un tel dialogue dans le but de préserver la stabilité et de promouvoir la réconciliation nationale à travers le pays.

Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General – on Côte d’Ivoire
The Secretary-General takes note of the announcement by the Independent Electoral Commission of the provisional results of the presidential election which took place in Côte d’Ivoire on 31 October.
The Secretary-General strongly condemns the violence that occurred prior to, during and after the election. He is saddened by the multiple fatalities and expresses his deep condolences to the bereaved families.
The Secretary-General calls on all political stakeholders to respect the country’s constitutional order and adhere to the rule of law. He urges the President and the main opposition leaders to engage in meaningful and inclusive dialogue to chart a way forward out of the prevailing crisis by working together towards consensus and national cohesion.
The Secretary-General reiterates the readiness of the United Nations to support such a dialogue with the objective to preserve stability and promote national reconciliation throughout the country.
